Winston
Churchill
Sir Winston
Churchill served as Great Britain's Prime Minister, and is best
remembered for leading Great Britain from the brink of defeat to
victory in World War II.
His career began
when he was elected to Parliament in 1900 taking his seat in the
House of Commons as a conservative member. By the the time World
War I stared in 1914, Churchill was already a national figure
serving as the first Lord of Admiralty. During the 1930's
Churchill constantly warned about the rise of Hitler and the
dangers of appeasement policy, but it mostly fell upon deaf
ears.
Winston
Churchill's vital role in World War II needs little
introduction -- except to say that he demonstrated his finest
leadership qualities before, during and after the war. He
instilled a solid resolve by portraying his own sheer
determination through his inspirational speeches to the people
of Great Britain. Churchill kept a vigilant pace during World
War II, and most forget that he was 70 years old at that time.
In 1951,
Winston Churchill was elected Prime Minister of Great Britain
again, and well-served out his role until 1964. He was awarded
the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1953 for his book called,
"The Second World War" and was also knighted that same year.
Churchill was born
in Oxfordshire, England November 30th, 1874; and
died on
January 24, 1965 ... seventy years to the dated death of his
father.
The price of greatness is
responsibility.
- Winston Churchill -
The greatest lesson in life is to know that even fools are
right sometimes.
- Winston Churchill -
Some men change their party for the sake of their principles;
others their principles for the sake of their party.

Nothing is more costly, nothing is more sterile, than
vengeance.
